Console best movie i've ever seen.
Mathilde the Guild Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
FlashCallahan The titular character starts a new life with her dad, after her mum tries to kill her.Trying to forget though is no mean feat, as she has counselling, demonic visions, and of course, her mother is staying in the least secure facility known to man, as she turns up every now and again, as a supposed way to keep the narrative flowing. But what haunts Molly the most is the fact that she cannot get away with the fact that under all this horror sheen, is just a really poor high school drama, that makes Hollyoaks look like Shakespeare......First off, the title is wrong, she isn't haunted, she's more harassed than anything, but The Harassment Of Molly Hartley sounds more like a courtroom drama than horror film, but the makers could have came up with a better title, something like 'guess who's coming to my 18th?' Would have sufficed. The acting is poor, it ticks every cliché in the book, and the story has been done time and time again. It tries to reference Rosemary's baby, but it offends it more than anything. And the shock twist is laughable, and is spoilt by the opening sequence anyway.I ended up just looking at it.....
MattyGibbs Judging by the current rating of 3.8 I was expecting this to be awful however it was actually entertaining and although it wasn't anything new it was nowhere near the worst film I've ever seen. It does make me wonder exactly what people expect when watching films like this. The acting was pretty good for one of these types of films with Haley Bennett putting in a good performance in the lead role and Shanna Collins putting in good support. It's not a scary film and maybe the lack of many frights and gore put off many people. Although this is a film more about the story than the gore there are a few creepy moments and a less than predictable last 15 minutes. This is far better than the rating suggests and worth watching if your at a loose end.
D Lynn This is my first IMDb review prompted by the absolute worst film I have ever seen: the "Haunting of Molly Hartley".It is my intent to learn the screenwriter's identity because I will never watch another movie in which this author participates. The film's producers clearly have an agenda and it transparently overshadows the plot at every turn. Most movies, even horror movies, evoke a sort of justice or resolution, if only for a key character with whom viewers come to identify. This storyline breaks the rule, leaving the viewer only with a nauseating sense that the screenwriter and the film's producers have concocted the story merely to promote a Luciferian worldview. The "horror" in this film does not come in the form of psychological suspense, in creative plot twists or even in clever visual effects. The horror in the "Haunting of Molly Hartley" is purely in its ideology: People do not have freewill. Christians are freaks. God is absent. Satanic power is rewarding --- and that's true even if one resists evil, as does the main character.Molly Hartley, the lead character, is a prep school student about to turn 18 when she begins to suspect that her criminal mother, who is confined to a mental hospital, may have formed a pact with the Devil at her birth. At first, the story comes off as your typical made-for-TV series of predictable plot gimmicks but it is in how the characters evolve --- and how the story resolves for Molly --- that carries it from harmless cliché to a faith-bashing, evil-glorifying propaganda device. The storyline builds sympathy and concern for Molly Hartley's struggle to come to terms with her past and her "destiny" upon her impending 18th birthday. A scene at the prep school in which a teacher proposes the Bible as literature indicates the screenwriter's willingness to go out of his/her way to promote the idea that the Bible is not only passé but people of faith are nutcases. The scene could have been cut from the movie with no harm to the plot yet its presence is notable in that the producers apparently felt it necessary to go out of their way to use characters from the movie as a vehicle to convey spite. In short, the way in which this film is written and produced does nothing for the horror genera but it does everything it possibly can to stir real-world controversy.I regret that I watched this movie on Lifetime Movie Network. Until the network pulls the film --- which it has repeatedly aired since its debut in 2008 --- I view LMM and its sponsors as endorsers of HATE SPEECH.Make no mistake: This is not a horror or suspense film in any true sense. It is propaganda and proselytizing under the false guise of "entertainment".
Nina Anderson I'll admit, this is a poor excuse for a horror film, but it still isn't completely awful. Loads of people will be disappointed with this film, and so I seriously hope you know what you're in for.17 year old Molly was stabbed by her mother who is now in a mental hospital. Molly lives with her dad and attends a new school, but strange things start to happen to her.Yes, sounds cliché, and it is, but there are some decent moments in it. The problem with this film is it opens with a fairly impressive scene, but the tension just fails after that and the whole thing goes downhill.Normally, I wouldn't have watched this film. The only reason I did was because of Haley Bennett as the lead role. Yes, that is the ONLY reason. She has a wonderful horror movie scream and does a good job of acting scared, and she is in fact the highlight of the movie. The other characters aren't fleshed out enough and the way they pop into Molly's life with different reasons gets a little confusing. This film didn't have a huge budget and so I can forgive the lack of gore and special effects which I was expecting, but the script is rather weak and the plot is pretty thin so the supposed twist ending is predictable. Oh, and the ending scene will confuse some and outrage others, depending on if you understand it. Long story short, it isn't very good.Despite all the negative things, some people will enjoy this film. I am one of those people, I could definitely watch it again and don't regret buying it. Not one of my favourites, but if you're looking for a cheesy horror movie to bitch about, then it fits the bill. If you want a true horror with lots of blood and screams and special effects, then this isn't even close to what you're looking for.All in all, I liked this film enough to buy it and watch again. I'm giving it six stars because although it severely lacks the shock factor to make it a horror, it still qualifies as one of those bad movies you watch on Saturday night. Just remember that you may still be very disappointed, so lower your expectations.
