AniInterview Sorry, this movie sucks
XoWizIama Excellent adaptation.
SanEat A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."
BelSports This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Woodyanders A vengeful mysterious killer (an effectively creepy portrayal by Derek McKinnon) bumps off various medical college students who are celebrating New Year's Eve on board a train.Director Roger Spootiswoode, working from a compact script by T.Y. Drake, keeps the absorbing story moving along at a snappy pace, builds a good deal of tension and spooky atmosphere, makes excellent use of the novel and claustrophobic train setting, and stages the rousing climactic chase set piece with skill and flair. Moreover, the sound acting by capable cast keeps this movie on track: Jamie Lee Curtis once again registers strongly as a personable final girl as the spunky Alana, Ben Johnson adds a touch of class as amiable and easygoing conductor Carnegie, Hart Bochner smarms it up nicely as obnoxious frat boy ringleader Doc, David Copperfield handles his red herring role as a slightly sinister magician quite well, and Sandee Currie contributes an appealing turn as Alana's perky best gal pal Mitchy. John Alcott's stunning cinematography works wonders with the cramped confines of the train and offers several striking shots of the bleak wintry Canadian landscape. John Mill-Cockel's spirited shivery score hits the shuddery spot. A worthwhile slice'n'dice item.
Dom Nickson Spoiler Alert!!! I bought this at F.Y.E. not expecting much because I'm a slasher movie fan who realized that these kinds of movies are getting pretty ridiculous. The main reason I decided to pick this one out was that I noticed it has Jaime Lee Curtis the most well known scream queen. This film really wasn't all that good as a storyline I mean I'm still confused on why the heck the killer just snapped and decides to kill people, I'm still confused on what I saw in the opening, and I'm still confused at what this film was trying to do. There was barely any killing, the characters were unlikable, and the killer's identity was pretty obvious with that opening sequence. This film wasn't the worst slasher film ever but it was pretty bad compared to slasher films like Halloween, Friday the 13th, and Nightmare on Elm Street. I decided to give this film 4 out of 10 because I liked the costumes, I liked Jamie Lee Curtis, and I liked the setting. Everything else though is just eh.
Claudio Carvalho The college students Doc (Hart Bochner), Michelle "Mitchy" (Sandee Currie), Mo (Timothy Webber), Alana (Jamie Lee Curtis), Edward "Ed" (Howard Busgang) and Jackson (Anthony Sherwood) plot a prank for their college mate Kenny Hampson (Derek McKinnon); however the joke goes wrong and Kenny ends up in a mental institution. Years later, Doc and Mo decide to celebrate their graduation with a costume party and a magician (David Copperfield) aboard of a train. In the embarkation platform, Ed is murdered by a killer that wears his costume of Groucho Marx. Then he kills Jackson and wears his costume of The Swamp Thing. The conductor Carne (Ben Johnson) discovers his body, but who might be the masked killer?"Terror Train" is an average slasher, with a claustrophobic story developed in a moving train. The identity of the killer is discovered but the he and his victims wear costumes and is difficult to identify who might be him. My vote is six.Title (Brazil): "O Trem do Terror" ("The Terror Train")
Zbigniew_Krycsiwiki Stylish but empty, wholly predictable horror about a killer targeting a fraternity during a reunion/ costume party aboard a train speeding through the snowy Canadian wilderness. Every time the killer strikes, he dons the victim's costume, and begins the hunt for the next victim.Technically well made, with a good cast, the idea of the killer wearing each successive victim's costume is clever, and its unique setting, the snowy winter wonderland, makes a great backdrop for the brutal killings. The plot wisely addresses the problem of the group being forced to remain on the train with the killer, as getting off the train and waiting in snowy, sub-zero weather 200 miles from the nearest town is not an option. But its biggest fault is that it tries to work as a mystery, but the killer's identity is obvious. (Of course it is the victim of the prank five years earlier. If it isn't him, then why was that scene even in the film?) All of the ensuing point-of-view shots come off looking like a cheap gimmick, rather than adding suspense to the proceedings. A lame ending is also a hindrance.
