Chirphymium It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional
Janae Milner Easily the biggest piece of Right wing non sense propaganda I ever saw.
Kien Navarro Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
Fatma Suarez The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
smoothsurfer Yes, the story is predictable. But it's a drama. Acting is good, choreography is GREAT and it deserves much more than 5 stars. It's prob at least a 7/10 seeing as some movies WAY less entertaining get 2 more stars. I don't even normally like movies that target the audience this one does, but it is well done.
Nick de la Fonteyne I'll just start out with saying that I've watched this movie in the same week as I watched Drumline, for the second time. This movie just didn't surprise me, it was just like watching Drumline, but just in another outfit, the storyline is almost the same, but the movie still amused me.The acting is this movie is decent, but the dancing was just great! And that's the only reason I finished watching the movie. If you want to watch a great movie, well this ain't it. If you want to see some great dancing, you should watch this movie!I gave this movie a 7 out of 10, because of the 'decent' acting and the great dance moves.
puppyeyes812 The movie had so many of the other dance movies put together. The acting wasn't horrible and there was no chemistry between short's character and Meagan's character. Twenty minutes into the movie we all knew he was gonna get the girl and we all knew he was going to join the frat. It so predictable that my seven year old little brother could have told me what was gonna happen next.the dancing was good.(I definitely can't dance like that) if your going to make a dance movie just PLEASE give us another story line. The whole family rivalry thing should have been emphasized. I'm 18 and I love dance movies but just not this one. We need another original like center stage, dance with me, or save the last dance. These movies had their own plots not everyone else's. All in all, the only way I would see this movie again is if its a rainy day with nothing giving on lifetime or if its the only movie on HBO
Kristine When I think of these movies like How She Move or You Got Served, I always thought they would be ignorant and just celebrating the "gangsta" rap life style and would be a waste of good film. But for some reason I decided to just go ahead and see what these films were like, I had nothing better to do, I was expecting bad, but guess what?! I actually liked it! I couldn't believe it, I mean, I really did like Stomp the Yard. There's really not anything wrong with the film, while it is predictable, it's definitely better than most films. I'm actually disgusted with a lot of the users who rated this movie a one just because of it's theme, I just stayed away because I thought I wouldn't like the film, but I wouldn't rate it before I saw it. But honestly I'm glad I decided to give it a chance, it has decent enough actors and an inspiring story to follow.DJ and his brother, along with a few friends, they are in an underground street dance group, one night it goes bad though. After DJ and his brother win, their group gets jumped and DJ's brother is shot and killed. DJ goes to Atlanta to go to school, he meets April, a beautiful young woman and wants to do better for her, his family, for his brother, and for himself. He joins a fraternity that is into dancing, together they bring themselves into the championship. But another fraternity wants DJ out and will do anything to bring him down. Now when I watched this film I had very low expectations, like I said before, it's a film that just naturally seems like it's going to be bad. But it's actually a decent film and I'm just disappointed with the rating here on IMDb. The film has good acting, a decent story, and incredible dance moves. The actor Columbus Short who played DJ was great, he didn't over play the role and didn't under do it either. I would recommend Stomp the Yard, I ended up really liking it, just give it a chance, when you look at it, you realize it's a good film.6/10
