I do not know Spawn, so, I can make a comparation . but this short film could be enough to serve a real inspired idea.

Ilikehorrormovies I found the movie to be okay but this short film is something else. It's the spawn movie that all Spawn fans including myself want to see. The acting is good and the voice of Spawn is totally bad ass.The special effects are really detail. Spawn looks very good in this film like they didn't rush it. If your a Spawn fan please go watch this short film.

Horst in Translation (filmreviews@web.de) "Spawn: The Recall" is a 2014 French fan-made short film, but don't worry, the language here is English, so you will not need any subtitles. The film actually begins nicely with a mother who loses her son and searches him for the rest of the film. Sadly, everything after this solid beginning is completely forgettable as the people behind this threw all kinds of special effects at us without properly elaborating on the story anymore. Such a shame. There was certainly potential for more. The ending is open, so maybe they intended to make a sequel to this one. Hasn't happened so far and for me personally there is not much appeal in this one here that would make me curious about a possible second movie. I hoped this would be better. Not recommended.
