Baseshment I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
RipDelight This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.
Paynbob It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.
Horst in Translation (filmreviews@web.de) "Scott Pilgrim vs. the Animation" is a 4-minute animated short from six years ago that is a bit of an appetizer for the "real" movie. Sadly, it lacks almost all the qualities that make the real film such a great watch. The story is not too interesting and it's really not coherent at all in terms of the characters actions and talking. The good thing is that they got the voices from the actors from the live action movie to perform in this short film we have here. However, some are missing, also core characters like Mary Elizabeth Winstead's. So yeah, worth checking out if you really love the full feature film, but don't have high expectations or you will be disappointed. I did not like it too much.
Rectangular_businessman This was a neat animation, which serves as a perfect complement for the live-action movie(Which was pretty good) with an interesting plot which takes place before of all the events from the film.Personally, I liked a lot the designs and the animation style, and the plot managed to be something funny that goes directly to the point without any kind of unnecessary filler material. In that way, it managed to be much better than many live-action comedies from the recent years, being something short but sweet. After seeing this, I think that It would be great to see an animated series inspired in the "Scott Pilgrim" comics.
