College student Beca knows she does not want to be part of a clique, but that's exactly where she finds herself after arriving at her new school. Thrust in among mean gals, nice gals and just plain weird gals, Beca finds that the only thing they have in common is how well they sing together. She takes the women of the group out of their comfort zone of traditional arrangements and into a world of amazing harmonic combinations in a fight to the top of college music competitions.

TrueHello Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Brainsbell The story-telling is good with flashbacks. The film is both funny and heartbreaking. You smile in a scene and get a soulcrushing revelation in the next.
Deanna There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
Kinley This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
Michael Ledo The film opens showing us competing collegiate A Cappella groups. The announcers are very snarky which sets the humorous tine for the movie.Female announcer(Elizabeth Banks): "Nothing makes a woman feel more like a girl then a man singing like a boy."Male announcer (John Michael Higgins): " Women are about as good at A Cappella as they are at being doctors."There is some battle of the sexes banter always going on.The action then picks up for the following year's recruitment at Barden University. The main focus is on Rebecca (Anna Kendrick from "Twilight"). She is the daughter of a college professor who wants to be a music producer and arranger. She is pursued by Jesse (Skylar Astin) who wants to score movies. They end up in rival groups who all seem to have pun names, i.e. "The Treble Makers" or "The Minstrel Cycles". The language they speak to each other is also punny such as getting "pitch slapped."The female group is lead by Aubrey (Anna Camp) who wants to do the same songs over and over again to the dismay of Rebecca and the snarky judges. The movie is predictable and pretentious. It is a film designed for a female teen audience, although I was able to enjoy it as well. Anna Kendrick's make-up was perfect throughout the film, a flawless beauty. The singing and choreography was enjoyable and professional. Perhaps the best scene was early in the film when they had a "riff-off" when competing A Cappella groups ad lib songs in "battle" against each another. The diverse female characters, such as "Fat Amy"(Rebel Wilson) made the film enjoyable. A film you can watch with your teen/preteen daughter and not get too embarrassed.Parental Guide: No f-bombs, sex, or nudity. Sexual innuendos. Some adult/teen language.
FandomFanatic21 Pitch Perfect, the movie that demands to be seen about a female-college a capella group full of misfits who want the show that they are more than hot-messes. Pitch Perfect spreads the message about being different and being accepted. The movie is funny and full of music with heart. Just of bunch of girls doing what they love together. The movie will have you laughing and on your feet singing along."Even though some of you are pretty thin, you all have fat hearts, and that's what matters."-Fat Amy, Pitch Perfect
Kuusafiiri I watched Red Sparrow in theaters earlier in the same day and when it was a disappointment, I had to watch another movie, when I was back home. Pitch Perfect was on TV and I have thought about watching this.I think the movie was okay. It's not a Chicago, but it was sort of entertaining as long as it lasted. Of course in these kind of movies you always know, how the plot goes, but this time it didn't bother me that much. Maybe after Red Sparrow I was up for anything else. I just wanted something entertaining and light. The acting was pretty bad at some points, but I wonder, if they wanted it to be that corny on purpose. I do like musicals and I thought the music was well done, and the harmonies were on point. And when they were on stage, I really enjoyed those parts. The throwing up -joke was stupid and they should've not put that kind of joke here. It was joke that you see on those stupid parody movies like Scary movie and American Pies, but not in a musical. It was like a six-year-old had said what would be a funny joke.I actually really wanted this to be a good musical, but it wasn't original enough. Why do the high school and college movies always have so stereotypical characters? Always the bitches, nerds, etc... Maybe someday someone will actually come up with something original.Summary: it was okay and entertaining, but very predictable and lacked in originality what comes to teen movies and teen musicals.
merelyaninnuendo Pitch PerfectIt fairly gives enough range for the actors to dive-in but unfortunately that leads into an overlong runtime which may be good for the character but definitely not for the movie.
