Crwthod A lot more amusing than I thought it would be.
Bob This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
puma31219 Pathology wasn't too bad. These are my thoughts after watching the film for the first time. Twenty-five minutes in, I kept saying to myself how messed up the film is. It was gritty, violent and a tad oversexed but it had potential. The story was unique- Residents committing perfect murders and being able to cover them up on the job. Not unlike a group of Hannibal Lectors as they harness the craft. Milo Ventimiglia's character was deceiving. I honestly didn't see him turning into one of them- I thought he would have remained a good guy throughout. But his transformation segment is where I turned a disliking eye towards the film. The drugs, the not well-placed sex scenes and the nonchalant attitudes of Doctor's who were committing murder as a game... It all felt like a failed attempt at making the story seem more raw. How cool and collected the four doctors besides Gallo and Grey behaved made them look like incomplete replicas of Tyler Durden; and not nearly as interesting as his character was. Alyssa Milano's character was unfortunately "bland"- almost as if they didn't need to cast a name as big as hers for such a minute role. Her death was something of a surprise, as I had anticipated a typical movie story where the good guy re-emerges inside of Milo and he somehow saves the day for everyone. After she died, I figured that he would do one of three things: (1) Set a trap for Gallo where both of them would take the fall for the fire and Gwen's murder (as with her death, Grey would have lost his raison d'être) (2) Leave the hospital and live on the run (3) or end up getting killed by Gallo making his story somewhat realistic. However, Michael Weston's character is an unrealistic individual. Is it possible for a psychopath to become a doctor? Of course. But a doctor such as him who more than likely grew up privileged, going crazy without anyone of note knowing, perfecting a murder routine at his age (while not having become an established M.D.) with enough charisma for others to follow his lead and displaying the habits of a pimp? It's a bit of a stretch. So keeping that in mind I was prepared for any type of ending and was leaning towards disappointment. Within the last 5 minutes, i was prepared to give the film a 5 out of 10 stars. But the ending surprised me quite pleasantly, I must say. The doctor who had a man-crush on Milo's character coming to save the day- a bit unrealistic but his revere for Grey had been established in the film more than once before this scene ever took place so his involvement in Gallo's downfall wasn't entirely random. Grey's description of his girlfriend's death while a paralyzed Gallo listened as Grey chose to forgo the mercy he showed to Gwen, was sadistically sweet. The ending bumped my rating up one star; I gave it a 6. The writing could have been better and the cinematography was a tad boring but it was a decent story that was portrayed by good actors and the pace was solid enough to tell the story without losing anyone's attention. If I watch it again, I may juggle the rating between a 5 and a 6 only because the surprise is not linger a factor, but overall, it was a decent film.
Jenalena Sinclair This movie was the biggest waste of time ever !! Not only was the plot and script CRAP the actors were very terrible too!!! I expected so much more from Alyssa Milano. The corny come up with the "good doctor" gone bad is just stupid. Why would he not like Jack at first if in the end he was just gonna buddy up with him. Now I like horror and thriller and crime movie but this was unacceptable. There was no motive, no concept... Just a cheap budget film with amateur sex scenes and gore. I would have rather watched Saw. I expected so much more of this movie and it could have been better if they had a different director and script. This movie had so much potential and I'm so disappointed how it turned out. IF YOU CAN AVOID THIS MOVIE PLEASE DO BECAUSE IT WILL BLOW YOUR BRAINS HOW STUPID IT IS!!!!
Tcarts76 This one gets a solid seven for me, near an 8. Pathology is a tale of a group of medical student, who have access to a morgue, and devise a game in which they will try and kill a person in a manner that the rest of the group, while examining the body, will be unable to discover the true cause of death. They then spiral into an addiction to murder and even in many cases, become sexually aroused by it. Obviously this group has a god complex and a serious lack of morals, not to mention completely ignoring the Hypocratic Oath.Milo Ventimiglia, from the TV series "Heros" plays the lead character Ted Grey, a promising medical student that seems to be at the top of his class. He turns in a decent performance but not a great one. In fact all the actors in this movie were pretty good, but at times I felt the script lacked a little depth of character. Lauren Lee Smith sizzled as the sexy Juliette Bath, who not only likes to have post murder sex with men, but seems to be as equally turned on by her female cohort Catherine Ivy ( Mei Melancon). This movie is a very dark twisted story and I liked that aspect. The way it was filmed reflected that, but I couldn't help but feel like something was missing in this movie that would have truly made it a rave worthy movie. I still can't decide on what that is. Maybe it was the lack of a real strong actor, or the script wasn't great, or maybe the way it was shot was a little off, I just don't know. But whatever it was it caused me not to be able to rate it anything above a 7.Like my reviews? Hate em? jt1999 There is no reason for this film to exist. No logical reason for it to have been made. Money? It grossed $108,662 -- with an 8 million dollar budget. A mega-flop.Did someone actually think people would want to see this?"An ugly film about ugly people doing ugly things" is how one critic described it. That pretty much sums it up!Again, the question is, why? Why was it made? Why would Lakeshore Entertainment -- who I once thought of as somewhat respectable -- pour 8 million bucks into this? Did they really think there were people out there who get into watching corpses being cut apart and cracked open and played with... body pieces and organs being thrown around like gruesome toys, like it's all supposed to be some big goddamn joke? And don't even get me started on the shots on the guy's ass in the first sex scene. I'm all out of vomit bags. They would have loved this at Auschwitz. Probably one of Jeffrey Dahmer's faves. Manson? Probably too gross for him.If this is what cinema has come to after 100 years, all I can say is I want out. Get me the hell out of the madhouse. Get me back to porn, to normalcy, to some decent entertainment that doesn't make me puke... This was worse than a snuff film, way worse. It makes me ashamed to be in the film business. Ashamed to be a human being. Ashamed to be alive.Nice music and photography, though! Just shows you how important those things are to the success of a film.Zero stars. Hopefully the jerk who made this will be dead soon. And boy, how I hope they toss his organs around the room!
