Arianna Moses Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
tmh-72022 Miss Congeniality is one of the best PG-13 comedy movies. It was about a tomboy woman named Gracie Hart who had to go undercover as a pageant girl for Miss America. There was a bomb threat that was supposed to happen at the pageant, so Gracie had to find out who the terrorist was and stop him or her. There was a whole FBI team that could see everything Gracie could see and among those men was a man named Eric who started to find an interest in Gracie. Gracie had to play the part by doing the talent, interview, and swimsuit portions of the competition, and with a little help of her agent, she seems to pull things off. When the FBI team thinks that they solved the case, they all leave while Gracie stays because she thinks that they were wrong. No one stayed back with her, not even Eric. Gracie continued to play the part of the pageant girl, so that she could find the bad guy and prevent the bomb from exploding. At the end Eric, along with her agent, came back to help Gracie. Gracie ended up being the first runner up, and her best friend from Rhode Island won. Unfortunately, Gracie found out that the bomb was apart of the crown, so she tried to stop her friend from putting it on. In the end, Gracie saves her friend and the contest from destruction. Lastly, her and Eric kissed! This movie was so entertaining. Gracie was played by Sandra Bullock, and I mean, who doesn't love Sandra Bullock? The movie was filled with humor and a little bit of love. One of my favorite parts was the big reveal when Gracie became "pretty." Before all the makeup and styling, Gracie was not stylish or very attractive. She then was transformed into a new woman and I loved the reveal. I also enjoyed the humor in this movie. It was very humorous at certain parts throughout the movie and I enjoyed a little bit of laughter. One of the funny parts of the movie was when Gracie's earpiece blasted in her ear. The connection in the ear piece was lost between Gracie and the FBI team, and when the connection was regained, it blasted in her ear and she screamed "Jesus Christ!" This was funny because she was at a very classy pageant brunch and everyone looked at her. After she screamed at the brunch, she had to cover it up by pretending that she forgot to pray to God before eating her bagel. The other pageant girls also began to pray. Another humorous part of the movie was during the pre-show when Gracie did her talent. She didn't really have a normal talent like the other contestants. Her talent was making music from cups filled with water. It was actually kind of impressive, but her outfit was ridiculous. While on stage Gracie also tried to spot out the bad guy. When she saw a gun and thought she found him, she ran off the stage and tackled him, which I found kind of funny. No one expected it and she looked funny doing it. I also loved the ending. At the end Gracie teased Eric by saying, "You think I'm gorgeous, you want to date me… love me and marry me…" And then they kiss! I loved this part because Gracie said something like this to Eric before and it was just romantic! Miss Congeniality is a hilarious movie. I really enjoyed watching it, and I would watch it again. This movie is also more than just a hilarious movie. It also teaches people to not judge a book by its cover. Gracie thought that all pageant girls were dumb and only wanted world peace, but by spending time with the girls, she learned that they were more than just dumb, pretty girls. I recommend watching this movie if you want to have good time. This movie isn't boring and it will definitely keep you watching.
Maddie1003 Cinephile Gracie Hart (Sandra Bullock) is a tough-as nails FBI agent, quite capable in her field but lacking everywhere else. When a mission goes awry, she is forced to go undercover as a contestant in Miss United States Beauty Pageant in order to prove her worth. Now this is especially difficult for those cops(in this case Gracie) who lacks all "feminine graces."Here Gracie is not one of those 'cool' cops who can pin her hair with one hand and stab the enemy with the other. She is the one who can match her male colleagues in boxing, makes witty comments, wears baggy jeans, cannot manage her unruly hair, cannot walk in heels, chews loudly, and snorts when she laughs. Sandra Bullock is effortlessly good as Gracie and steals the show with her over-the top antics. She provides all the laughs in the movie. As for the story line, well, it is not as amazing as Sandra. It is pretty entertaining to watch her. You can overlook the story line when she comes on screen.Rating: 6.5/10
dougdoepke Fitfully funny romp that suffers from slack direction, sloppy script, and transparent female lead. Sharper editing might have made up for director's lack of comic timing, but there is no finesse for Sandra Bullock's ham-fisted attempt at comedy. It's one of those feel-good-about- everyone movies that first offends and then takes it all back in predictably lumpy finale. Should have been a lot funnier than it is, and compares badly with similarly themed Legally Blonde, a feminist movie with real charm and wit. For genuinely amusing and incisive look at beauty pageant industry, check out Michael Ritchie's 1975 film: Smile.
ekalb45 Sandra Bullock's facial expressions, physical comedy, comedic timing, and great lines: Ditto for Michael Caine. Not a great movie, but very good, and those two performances, plus Shatner's as the emcee, make it a very worthwhile movie. When movies like Anchorman get a 7.2 by comparison, I feel like I'm somewhat alien to this planet......Keep forgetting that being concise on this website is not an attribute, so I'll digress. Humor is subjective, so everyone has their own, equally valid opinion, but IMHO Sandra nailed it, was at the height of her comedic prowess in this movie, and it will stand up over time not so much as a great movie (not), but a great performance by Bullock.
