sportsgirl-38658 I was looking forward to this movie due to the high reviews and known cast. To my disappointment, this movie had a boring plot and no climax. Sure, if you're a 20s history buff you might found encounters with Picasso exciting- but eh, I could pass. The movie starts out with clips of Paris and music.. which continues for FIVE MINUTES. Why? This should've been my first sign. Then it goes on to explain the main character's downhill relationship with his fiancé while they are visiting Paris. They run into her old college lover (and his girlfriend) in a fancy restaurant. Who just runs into an American friend in another country??! So then you're like wtf is this movie about?! Eventually you find out the main character can time travel at midnight in Paris (wow- creative title). He gets to meet his idols which really isn't that exciting and for the most part isn't impactful. I guess he gets insight on his book and learns the lesson that people glorify time that isn't the present. This- and a girl he meets in the 20s who bounces from guy to guy and leaves him after a whole 5 minutes of them being together to live in another time period- convinces him to leave his life and move the Paris. Obviously he leaves his fiancé who the movie paints to be mean and a cheater. But- this guy literally went out all night, refused to do family stuff with her while on vacation and tried to steal her pearl earrings to give to the 20s girl. Then the movie just kinda ends. Save your valuable time answers watch something else. This movie was awful.
jamdub-61934 To be in my 20s and in Paris. . .a dream which once was. Paris does bring out the writer in everyone and the dreamer. Woody Allen does this as well in Midnight in Paris. Amazing if you love the city of lights and good if you are only fond of such an adventure.
muhammad-qishta Just watched " Midnight in Paris " . Honestly and surprisingly too , I have never watched any of Allen's movies before and i don't know how i lost all my freaking last years without hitting any of his movies . The opening shots of the movie that depicting the city of lights were very splendid. The camera within few seconds was creatively able to get you there instantly . Clouds , uniquely beautiful streets , alleys , french architecture , boulevards , rains and everything . Allen took Paris into its era of glory and magic .The well-written screenplay was a vivid of fantasy and romance like a fascinating dream you don't wanna wake up from . And it could list Allen as one of the greatest screenwriters all the time without any doubts . Life is so sophisticated and humans beings are more and more , that's one of the movie messages that Woody focused to convey to viewers and he did . Let's not forget the soundtracks which were such classical and unique .And here's the element which worth the most flattering , the casting choice . I talk here in particular about Owen Wilson as Gil and Marion cotillard as lovely Adriana . This couple played an exceptional remarkable role . Owen was hilariously convincing even though the Gil character was very complicated, he did a great job indeed . I'm so lucky i have loads of Allen's movies unwatched to keep them as a treasure and check just one movie per year .
