Pluskylang Great Film overall
CrawlerChunky In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
Adeel Hail Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.
Mathilde the Guild Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
donaxel This movie doesn't deserve it's low rating. This is a super movie. Maybe not the best plot in the world, but Tommy Lee carries this movie, and he does it in his own style, like seen before from him. it is definitely worth all 90 minutes. just enough suspense and a lot of fun too, spiced with some goofy stuff from Cedric the entertainer. And as i have just watched i now 8 years after its making its fun to see some of the lesser actors which have now in the time passed played some bigger roles in TV- series. check it out. see if you can spot them and guess who they are playing in which series. don't miss out on this movie. I was smiling all way through.
chrichtonsworld Tommy Lee Jones is a good and versatile actor. And somehow he always plays the same roles. Is that a bad thing? Well,in this case it isn't. The contrast between the cheerleaders and this cranky old Texas Ranger is as fun as can be expected. There are even moments where Jones shows his softer side. Jones romancing Anne Archer and him displaying fatherly feelings over the girls he has to protect. Quite the opposite of the role he had in "Double Jeopardy" where most of the time he was just cranky and grumpy. And there are scenes where you can feel the huge age gap between these teens and the old man. But this is done in such a subtle way that is was pretty hilarious. As a bonus there is some slapstick in the form of Cedric the Entertainer. And I don't know about you but he always makes me laugh. The action is downplayed in service of the comedy which is a good thing. Since too much action would have been too distracting. "Man of the House" is not set out to surprise you. It entertains nothing more nothing less.
hayleyk9691 I saw this in theaters with my mom and brother because it sounded pretty good. Only I was wrong. I thought that there'd be a lot of action since it was about a bunch of cheerleaders -- who were your totally average lean, dress skimpy kind of girls -- witnessing a murder. I thought there'd be at least ONE person trying to kill them numerously like in The Terminator or even Die Hard. Nope. Nada. Then here comes Tomym Lee Jones as this sheriff who takes the girls too seriously, making them live with him. The movie got boring. I even asked my mom when the movie was supposed to be over.Yeah, it was that boring. The movie was a little cheesy, since the girls weren't taking the situation seriously (they weren't the girls who saw one Cops commercial on TV to know that they were in a serious situation.) The only action was at the end, but it was lukewarm -- just like the movie.
beachgirlk92 This was a really good movie. It had me laughing throughout the whole thing. I loved the scene with Tommy lee Jones and Professor Mcarthy(Anne Archer). I think she could have had a bigger part though. But TLJ played his part so well and brought a lot to the movie. So did everybody including Anne Archer, for such a small part. I really enjoyed watching this movie, it had me laughing at times for a while. THis is a very good and silly movie to watch, and i definitely recommend it. But be in a good mood to watch it because you really need to be happy and silly to really appreciate this movie. I don't understand how this movie could get a bad Review, it just doesn't make sense. So go out and rent or by this movie, if your in the mood to have a laugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
