Karry Best movie of this year hands down!
Voxitype Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.
Allison Davies The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Philippa All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
AfroPixFlix "I want to be like Mike...but I PRAY to be like Lin!" How often do you meet a sports figure whom you really, really like? One forged so solidly in his faith that you can gain inspiration from every phase of his life, not just the limelight? Fortunately for us, Lin's family had so much footage that it seems we saw this kid grow up next door to us. That's the mark of good parenting and good editing and directing on the part of Evan Jackson Leong. Lin's character hasn't changed, though his circumstances have been whirlwind. How inspirational for the world to see how someone from such a humble background can become propelled to the heights of international fame. The watchword: be ready. This may be a spoiler, both for the film and the game of life, but the good guy wins here, and it isn't a fluke. Lin won by hard work, persistence, and the grace of God. Lin stayed faithful. Let's hope (yes, and pray) that Lin and so many other athletes (and budding chemists, plumbers, and CPAs) will keep trying, believing, and teaching us the importance of walking by faith, not by sight. (That's in the Rulebook, 2 Corinthians 5:7) AfroPixFlix offers eight forks (and they're not pitchforks) for this one. See it. Share it. Talk it up, fans.
gchong This story is insane because the phenomena of Linsanity happened despite all of the odds being against it, and this documentary highlights many of those hurdles that didn't get covered by the national press. The story goes way beyond his years at Harvard and dives into the core of Jeremy Lin, which is the foundation of his family and faith. Those two pillars were established in the very early years of his life, even before he picked up a basketball, and were elements that carried him through the low points of his life and helped him push through to the heights that he did achieve."Linsanity" is a must-watch movie because it highlights the real life struggles that are so often 'photoshopped' out by some image-conscious PR firms. Jeremy Lin had struggles and he overcame and that was a recurring theme throughout the documentary.Even those who are following Jeremy's career now see that pattern playing out as he deals with being benched this season, after being the Houston Rockets starter in 2012-2013.You will come away inspired, there is no doubt about it. Some people may be turned off by the obvious faith in God that Jeremy has, but the director is obviously trying to capture what Jeremy himself felt was key to sparking the Linsanity of 2012.
neovaliane It's a superb! This documentary is well organized, the story well told, and the theme well expressed. Lin is an evangelical Christian, and was a leader in Harvard's Asian American Christian Fellowship during his time there. He credited his NBA success to playing without pressure. "I've surrendered that to God. I'm not in a battle with what everybody else thinks anymore," said Lin. He hopes to become a pastor who can head up non- profit organizations, either home or abroad, and has talked of working in inner-city communities to help with underprivileged children.Lin is focused on ignoring those concerns. He said he's not even worried about the pressure that comes with being a man of faith."It's a platform I've been given," Lin said. "I want to be real. I don't want to have a false image. I want people to see who I am and what God has done in my life."If people don't like me or are waiting for me to fail, that's on them. I don't want to offend anybody. I don't want to be overbearing. But I've got to be who I am."
David De Leon "Linsanity" is an actual word, except no one has the actual definition. The most common terminology may be "the awesome feeling of Jeremy Lin winning the ultimate basketball game". My father and I loved watching basketball games together. This is the story of Jeremy Lin's love for this sport and the reality of getting into the NBA. Jeremy Lin is a man of faith and expresses it to us in this documentary. Director Evan Leong stated at the Sundance Q&A the film started out only as a web series and turned into something greater. The story starts with his game against the LA Lakers facing off the legendary LeBron James. Those of us who know Jeremy Lin will already predict the end result but even find a deeper understanding of this incredible player. Leong did a fantastic job bringing this player to life. My only complaint would be the large amount of archival footage and him playing basketball and NBA games. We see that on TV all the time when there needed to be more of knowing him as a character. Great job from the entire team and I hope you get this film for the world to see.
