Neive Bellamy Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.
Kamila Bell This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Zandra The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
Rexanne It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny
floridasun-rt Really, Channing Tatum as a "High Fae" (Goolgle it OR READ one of Sarah Maas books & you'll get it) what's not to like!!?? Maybe they should let the Sci-fi "Fae readers" rate this as people clearly don't have a clue what's popular in the fantasy book world! This movie was amazing!! Visuals and all! Tatum was the perfect High Fae... of course he didn't refer to himself in those terms but that's what he was in the "Fae" world!
ThatFilmGuy92 In a bizarrely stylish futuristic world where Marius Pontmercy and his equally savage siblings, that model no one remembers the name of and that guy who played Romeo in that sappy 2013 adaptation, are heirs to the universe, it's up to Magic Mike and Jackie Burkhart to restore peace to the solar system. Sounds hokey, huh? Well, the story is one of the many issues at hand with this movie. Andy and Lana Wachowski, the pair responsible for the Matrix series, brings us Jupiter Ascending, the latest in a string of failures, following Speed Racer and Cloud Atlas. The real issue at hand here is not wasted talent (and trust me, it's wasted), it's Michael Giacchino's score that sounds like an embarrassing rip-off of John Williams' Star Wars music. From epic chorals to an overuse of the string quartet, the music is really enough to make you want to leave the theater.Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis star in this sci-fi wreck that's more likely to be a movie from the SyFy network. If you're looking for chemistry that works, you're not going to find it here. However, you will find actors who have been known to have much more promising work, like Tatum as a Lycan-human wannabe, fresh off from Foxcatcher where, out of the three main stars, two were nominated for Oscars, but alas, Tatum wasn't. Kunis, more famous recently for her roles in critically-acclaimed films such as Black Swan and Ted, is clearly devoted to the role of Jupiter Jones; however, the screenplay does not play to her strengths. But the real surprise, surprise role here is from Eddie Redmayne, who plays the film's main antagonist, a ruthless alien who whispers most of his lines and occasionally shouts, only to have his voice crack as if he'd never gotten past puberty. Now I'm a fan of Redmayne, but this movie is bound to give him a Razzie nomination for Worst Supporting Actor, just after he won Best Actor for playing Stephen Hawking. From overlong chase scenes with colors and noise that makes you want to cover your ears for the remaining two hours, Jupiter is an exercise in patience and not having a spasm from the insane colors. 2.5/5.
Movie-Inspector Unfortunately, the story can not keep up with the visuals/design of Jupiter Ascending. But still entertaining - if you like movies such as The Fifth Element, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, Guardians of the Galaxy, John Carter, Green Lantern, Immortal etc. comes to mind.Fantasy sci-fi with superb visual powers, a fine cast, and well, sadly, a little too generic story - a more interesting story, this movie would have been top notch.
bramstayer There was enough multiple ideas to make a whole entire alternative universe and with good casting and character development it could be fun scary touching but they shoved it all ina film that is too long in the end. Lovely visuals costume design sets and some acting but i was really bored and felt like they wasted time, which was the whole point of the harvesting of humans just like scientology claims LOL. Too bad they didnt take a longer view and made 3 awesome well paced films...this failed for me. Aslo does the woman ha e to believe the last man she talks to like some female goodlookimg Trump PRESIDENT!?
