PodBill Just what I expected
Bob This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
gatorgus-80479 Don't think to hard and you will enjoy it. Rock is always appealing. Vanessa Hudgens is certainly pleasant to look at. Hutcherson is fine. Michael Caine is always great. Critters need some work, otherwise the scenery is pretty good.
Rachid Pardo Estevez I know this may seem stupid to most people, but not to someone that rides a motorcycle. The sounds of the motorcycle that appears in the very beginning of the movie are sounds from a crotch-rocket. When the motorcycle that the guy is riding is a dual purpose motorcycle which basically sounds like a dirt bike. This is just something to look after while making a movie, at least ask someone what that motorcycle sounds like. I think this is a great movie, but these are just the kind of things that make certain people that a movie is not good or that the people making that movie don't know what they are doing. I hope the motorcycle riders understand. Anyways this is just my opinion.THANKS
Prismark10 Josh Hutcherson is the only actor who reprises his role as Sean from Journey to the Centre Of The Earth as the rebellious, bookish and petulant teenager. Brendan Fraser is absent so the sequel fixer Dwayne Johnson steps in as Hank the former Navy code breaker who is his stepfather. When Sean receives a coded SOS message from his crusty grandfather (Michael Caine) who is in some remote island and they go off to find him with the help of Luis Guzmán as the comic relief helicopter pilot and Vanessa Hudgens as his nubile daughter and potential love interest for Sean. The film reprises the plot of Jules Verne's Mysterious Island as they crash land in this strange island. A place with giant bees and butterflies, small elephants, giant lizards, active volcanoes, golden lava. The submarine Nautilus even turns up as they escape the island before it sinks. The film does have dazzling CGI, Johnson provides a lot of charm making fun of his physique like bouncing berries of his pecs and singing a ukulele version of What a wonderful world. The plot is a little disjointed and silly but it is a fun enough family film.
bowmanblue Okay, I'm sort of giving this film 8/10, BUT that rating is based on how much my eight-year-old daughter liked it. Personally, I couldn't give it more than a 6/10.It's about a boy who goes to (you guessed it) a mysterious island. This happens pretty swiftly and, this is my first gripe. The kid and The Rock (aka his on-screen stepfather) crack a cryptic code in a matter of seconds, just by putting their heads together. Then, everything that follows (i.e. the adventure itself) is just one coincidence after the next. Every situation they find themselves in can be countered by some piece of knowledge that one of the characters have. The Rock's stepson knows how to get out of every supernatural situation based on a science fiction book and The Rock knows because he's been in the army and then in construction. Vanessa Hudgens is in it simply to provide some unnecessary love interest for the teenage boy and her father... well, don't get me started on him - he's one of the most stupid, annoying characters since Jar Jar Binks.Only Michael Caine saves the actors' blushes. Using his vast years of experience, he seems to know just the right balance between comedy/kookiness and generally not being an annoying waste of time, or an annoying know-it-all.Then there's the island itself. Perhaps the title should be 'The Journey to the computer-generated island?' Seriously... everything is heavily digital. But, at the end of the day, my daughter loved it and I'm guessing many other children will as well. Despite being a big fan of both The Rock and Michael Caine, I could quite happily never see this film again, but then I'm not eight. If you have a young family, put this on - they'll love it. I can only tolerate it.http://thewrongtreemoviereviews.blogspot.co.uk/
