Pacionsbo Absolutely Fantastic
Intcatinfo A Masterpiece!
Humaira Grant It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
SnoopyStyle Katja (Diane Kruger) marries Kurdish immigrant former imprisoned drug dealer Nuri Sekerci. They live a regular life with their son Rocco. Katja is devastated when her husband and son are killed by a bomb placed outside his office where she recalls a blonde girl had earlier locked up a bicycle. She suspects Nazis and falls back into her drug habits. The police suspects that Nuri had continued his drug dealings which led to the bombing. This premise allows for a few different avenues of drama. This movie takes one of the lesser dramatic routes. It does allow Kruger to do some emotional acting. She's devastated, she's crying, she's drugged up, she's suicidal, she's angry, and she's defiant. She gets to play with all the best pieces. The trial isn't that compelling and the verdict is problematic for a non-jury trial. Quite frankly, the story would be more compelling without the trial and go straight into the third act. She doesn't have a good plan and stumbles into the situation. At the hotel, she basically has no plan at all. Even if the couple is in the hotel, she has no plan to deal with them. The story needs to hype up the tension by going to the dark side. She can still have her doubts and her reversals but it needs to start at a higher level. Overall, Kruger is able to match the requirements of her role but the plot pulls a few of its punches.
El-Dod Aus dem Nichts is one of the few movies that had other dimensions of it's story that was amazingly done and very simple that could reach to the audience very easily by a lot of camera scenes as by a wonderful scene when she was sitting on the sofa in front of her window while the rains were falling outside and on the window that was reflected by the shadows on the face of our smart actress Diane Kruger to resemble her feeling of fade. The matter of the judge was too unreasonable and The story was too good and how she lived before it went to the end where she decided to start go looking for the ones that killed her family! You feel it wasn't really at the same line the story was going along with and predictable ending that is compatible with the name and idea of the movie. or you feel that the movie went into her fade a little bit more than it needed. I have to say that it is a brilliant movie that had some flops but was very well made and I have to say that the cinematography was extraordinary. 7.5/10.
daavid_duarte I really enjoyed because make me think with the script but also with the images, the movie is capable to make you feel what is happening trough the images. Highly recommended. Main issues in this movie are: racism, justice, vendetta, lost.
kosmasp Fatih Akin doesn't need to prove he knows how to direct or that he is a capable director. But if you need another example here it is. One might say he gets back to his roots or rather his first film somewhat with this. But with the spin that he concentrates on the female perspective. You could also argue that the male might come from that world he created with his first movie (which some may argue is his "Mean Streets" - except he didn't stay in that genre).Diane Kruger is really exceptional in this and very close to real life. So you won't see any over the top and unbelievable stuff happening here. And it all leads to an ending that will either satisfy you or leave quite empty and maybe annoyed. It is tough to please everyone of course, but if you like slow burning drama with thriller elements in it, this is really good. Devastating and painful, but good ...
