mary-179-677383 I can't believe I wasted a few hours watching this ridiculous movie. I can not get over how unbelievable the script and story of this movie. The scenes in which they have dinner in silence is so cringe worthy. After the silent dinner, she suddenly has a connection with him? And she goes to his house in the middle of the night. Does she not have any friends? And when we patiently wait for Lisa to unwrap her present from George, I almost fell asleep and then she says to George, "thanks for not rushing me". As if it was a big deal that Matty when he gave her a beautiful watch wanted to help her unwrap the present because she looked like she was struggling. Honestly. Lisa is the most unlikable character. She should have stayed for the therapy sessions and got herself sorted.Lisa is in a relationship with a guy named Matty who is committed to her, asks her to move in, has his life all together and is sweet, funny and supportive and then she chooses George guy who is being investigated and might be going to prison and lives in a dump. He has nothing together and he bought her play doh for her birthday. Yes it had a cool but fake sounding story.. which in all honestly, didn't really apply to her or her situation.. She falls in love with George who after only a few awkward encounters in which you see no chemistry and no interesting rapport. If you want to yell at your TV because she made poor decisions and because the movie is so lame, then sure watch it.
mrudul-gupta Everyone has times when things gets tough and they need to toughen up but life keeps moving on and we have to keep up with other stuff in life. So that's what this movie is about, in a funny way. So do watch it. Everyone has their own ideas of what a romantic comedy should be like. I am a practical, logical girl and i despise romantic comedies with too much gooey stuff. This movie was just the right amount of everything. Honestly the phrases used have so much deeper meaning, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Paul Rudd is so honest in his role, and Owen Wilson is such a cutie as always!! I really enjoyed the movie, and don't look so much into the movie, its light and funny!
Ole Sandbaek Joergensen Lets start by saying, I had expected so much more, As Good as it Gets is definitely one of the films I like very much in the comedy genre and I had hoped this was up there. Unfortunately it does not have the same intriguing story or the same level of comedian enthusiasm, but its not all bad.The roles that Reese Witherspoon and Paul Rudd plays are great, and especially the way the audience really can believe that they are two troubled human beings, dealing with each their own problems. The roles played by Owen Wilson is also great, he is great at pretending (or so I hope, he does) to be a shallow, no brain stud, he often have this element in his roles and it works great. I had hoped that Jack Nicholson had a larger role then what he had, I simply loved him in As good as it gets, in this he has a smaller role but he is still good, I especially love the last scene with him and the face he makes (that's priceless).I did like the film, but I could have wanted some more fun and more "action" on the way, it takes time in developing and showing us the characters and usually that's not a bad thing, but when you expect comedy all the way, then it takes to long to get acquainted.
z-itchy I found this movie (that's "film" for all you faux elites) well directed and unusually affecting. There was a real connection to the characters and their process of establishing a relationship. I was surprised by the acting of Reese and Owen. For Reese, I have not seen her every work but it is by far the most well acted. For Owen, it not easy to portray a genuinely vacant playboy - well done. This is definitely not your mass produced romantic comedy. The comedy is a bit low key but effective and helps keep you interested. The romance is subtle, much like the real thing in life. All of this is of course is my very humble opinion but I was very pleasantly surprised.
