Beystiman It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.
FirstWitch A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.
Anoushka Slater While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.
Deanna There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
adonis98-743-186503 An unfaithful wife encounters the zombie of her dead lover; the demonic cenobites are pursuing him after he escaped their sadomasochistic underworld. Hellraiser is far from being a masterpiece and it definitely has it's fair share of issues regarding it's storyline and character choices but it's also pretty original for sure, the perfomances were good for a horror flick especially and the make up alongside the special effects quite natural. The story was interesting for sure and it's basically a film that is watchable although far from classic by the way. (7/10)
Smoreni Zmaj Clive Barker is one of my favorite authors. Book of Blood, The Damnation Game, Weaveworld are books I'll always cherish, and Undying will forever be my dearest video game. Although in my opinion The Hellbound Heart is not even close to the best story he has written, adaptation of this book is move that made him famous and forever carved him in legend. In this movie story isn't questionable because Barker personally adapted his own novel into movie scenario and directed it. In technical terms, the film is pretty bad, but considering that it's Barker's movie debut done with really small budget result is surprisingly good. Barker and his friends improvised many things on their own in inability to pay professionals. In spite of all its flaws, Hellraiser became cult movie and opened the door to franchise that lasts to this day, 30 years later.7/10
krokoschilla I have to say, it could be because I only watched this now when there are already better effects, but I have to admit I found the movie to be ... boring. It wasn't particularly bad, but it didn't scare me. I mean, it certainly killed time but I wouldn't watch it again if I had the choice. I found the story line to be uninteresting. Every time there was an interaction between the woman and her dead/undead/zombie/demon lover I was staring at the screen and shaking my head. The demons did not really do much and the girl, the daughter, was just kinda there.
DMG The original hellraiser is one of those movies that i actually didn't really like at first, but absolutely loved it after a re-watch. This is not a very fast paced horror movie, but also not too slow at the same time. I really think that the pacing is perfect in this movie. There is always something happening, but also not too much at the same time, so it doesn't confuse you. The acting in the movie is good. It's definitely not perfect, but i think the acting is still good and no one annoys me in any way. I also like almost all of the characters. There some characters in the movie that you're not supposed to like, so i don't like them. But the good thing is that they're not annoying, they're just.... kind of evil. But let's talk about one the best things about this amazing movie - the effects. Hellraiser has amazing gore effects. It looks really real and it looks better than most CGI in modern horror movies. And also this movie has one of the most memorable and iconic villains in horror - pinhead. Doug Bradley's performance is really good. Yeah i know i said that the acting is just good, but i think that Bradley is the only one who's really good. Overall, i can't describe how much i love this movie and i cannot believe that i didn't like it at first. It is one of my favorite horror movies of all time and i'll have to give it a 10 out of 10. check it out it you haven't already.
