CommentsXp Best movie ever!
Odelecol Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
Mathilde the Guild Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
S. Felton I am writing this movie for one reason. I am tired of watching awful movies with great actors, and I am going to just put 2 questions "out there," though I am certain I won't get an answer.Yes, this movie is awful. It is infantile, it is stupid, it is full of clichés, there is almost nothing entertaining or interesting in the entire movie. The ridiculously contrived scene before the "wrap" reaches an even higher level of stupidity than the rest of the movie,, and that's saying something. I watched most of the dvd on fast forward, and it was still a huge waste of time.So I wonder, do the great actors in this movie realize what kind of cr*p they are creating when they are shooting the scenes? Do they realize what garbage they've been in when they watch the movie, assuming they do? In fact this would be another interesting question, do they even watch the inferior movies they've act in?Think of all the great movies Annette Bening, Matt Dillon, and Bob Balaban have been in. Surely they can tell the difference between those movies/scripts and this p.o.s.I wonder.
amylongland Absolutely hilarious! I'm amazed that this film didn't get more recognition, it has the same sense of humour as Bridesmaids and is really feel-good. It is the same sort of film as Bridesmaids but Kristen Wiig is good as ever and we really enjoyed watching it. I wouldn't say its quite as good as Bridesmaids but if you're looking for something similar then this is a great watch. Absolutely hilarious! Emma Harwood Upon its festival release, Girl Most Likely garnered generally negative reviews from critics. Christopher Schobert from film blog The Playlist called the film "a big-screen sitcom, elevated by Kristen Wiig and Annette Bening". He wrote that Wiig's "likability oozes from every scene in Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini's occasionally winning, a touch too sitcom-y, but often very funny look at one woman's offbeat family and her attempts at discovering just what went wrong on the road to success. It is not, to be sure, Bridesmaids-style humor, and never reaches that blockbuster's belly laugh count. But the film doesn't lack for moments of inspired comedy, and I expect it to find an audience." In his review, Justin Chang from Variety felt that "an able cast, led by Kristen Wiig's prickly lead turn, saves this uneven, excessively quirky but ultimately ingratiating story Offering another sly snapshot of the filmmakers' native New York, a la The Nanny Diaries and The Extra Man this soft-bellied crowdpleaser should post modest numbers in specialty play and DVD/VOD rotation. Rotten Tomatoes gives the film a 20% rating based on 85 reviews with the site's consensus: "Largely witless and disappointingly dull, Girl Most Likely strands the gifted Kristen Wiig in a blandly hollow foray into scattershot sitcom territory."
Kay Bee How is this movie getting good user reviews? It's terrible. It starts out okay and you think that you might be in for a surprise but then it just turns into every cliché available! Bad, bad, bad ending. The characters are walking stereotypes, no originality, and Imogene is super unlikeable! Just one example is her outrage at her mother renting out her room although she has never been home since she left high school many years earlier. She is utterly self absorbed and judgmental. Another thing I strongly dislike is a fat shaming incident near the end where to get back at someone who was unkind to Imogene she is told her butt looks huge in her dress and we're supposed to think this puts her in her place. This script was written by a woman! Come on woman, break out of that crap! It had potential but did not fulfill it at all.
