Reviews

Pluskylang Great Film overall
Crwthod A lot more amusing than I thought it would be.
Hayden Kane There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes
Mandeep Tyson The acting in this movie is really good.
Kyle Boyce When I saw the rash of negative reviews for this title, I felt I should throw in my objective 2 cents worth after watching this less than 24 hours ago. With any movie, there really is only one question you need to ask yourself. Did it entertain you? If the answer is yes, then what is all the griping for? Not every film is going to have a gargantuan budget for fancy sets and special effects. I find in-depth character development is always a challenge for the 2 hour feature film format. The plot was a little thin, character development somewhat lacking, and some evidence of lazy writing present (no effort dedicated to how they survived in the desert or at all). But then again, I'd say most modern day Star Wars movies are guilty of all those things I just mentioned on a far worse scale. But did it entertain me? The answer is yes! And I do give ratings based on entertainment value too. This movie had bikes, babes, and a healthy amount of suspense around how it was going to end for the Prince and for the robot woman Ash. You see other reviews on here have people trying to compare this film to Mad Max. I really didn't like Mad Max that much, and would rate Fury Road a solid 4 at best.
blametaker77 Should have been called James Franco: Fury Road. Future World kinda stars and was directed by James Franco who is also an uncredited writer. He made the film with his endless list of obscure hipster connections, somehow managing to slap together a B list cast and crew to make his passion project of week. First off, I get the sneaking suspicious that this "film" was shot over a weekend... at Burning Man. Everything in this barely 90 min dystopian dud is stolen from better sci-fi flicks ranging from new to old and indie to mainstream. The list includes: Road Warrior and Fury Road (obviously), the Bad Batch, Turbo Kid, and Automata. All of which are far better than Future World. Even the title was stolen from a 1976 sci-fi movie called Futureworld (no space), which is also about robots. I will say that Milla Jovovich is a guilty pleasure at times, even if she doesn't exactly turn in her best performance. Overall, this movie sucked and I can't wait to forget about it, which fortunately shouldn't be too hard. This is a D- tops because much like Franco, there is no reason for its existence.
adamlee-72024 James Franco as an actor, I believe is above good, not great. But as director and acting in his own movie: Future World? Comes to this: I fell asleep 3 times, vomit about 5 times, and had 7 seizures. The 2 stooges who wrote the script, Bruce Thierry Cheung, Jay Davis spend the night smoking pot and watching Mad Max, Resident Evil, and the Cure. What that says of these 2 stooges: No Imagination and basically, they used past ideas. And because they have such low IQ, the result was; well you know what it was. Now, James Franco, I always sought of him as an artist. My question to him, and to the producers, did you guys, at any time during this work, realized that you were directing, acting and producing such a piece of garbage????
cruise01 Future World (.5 out of 5 stars).Future World is no Mad Max but it tries to be. It is kind of like an experimental mad max movie. The story and concept takes place in the future. In a wasteland, were wars destroyed humanity. There is android like humans that are rare to come by. A red fever that also wiped out humanity. And majority of guns that do not work cause of bullets drying up. And people use knives, machetes, and spears as weapons. And people are either living in a desert forest or being enslaved in a sex club or in a broken down building by the low rising sea and high on drugs. The film follows Prince (Jeffrey Wahlberg) who is out in the wasteland searching for a cure for his dying mother Queen (Lucy Liu). Lucy Liu spends all her screen time in bed rest. With a bed outside in the desert. A weird setting. Then, Warlord (James Franco) raids a facility and killing innocent people and steals an android Ash (Suki Waterhouse). He takes control of her and commands her to do killing for him. When, Prince comes across Warlord in a club were Love Lord (Snoop Dogg) is a pimp. Prince escapes with Ash, when she is able to take control of her system and disobey the commands that Warlord makes. On a wild goose chase away from Warlord and his biker gang. They come across Druglord (Milla Jovovich) were she offers a cure. But with a price of keeping Ash. The film is just horrible in every way. Disappointing that James Franco co directed this. He started out promising with a great comedy movie The Disaster Artist. This film fails at everything. Terrible performances. Action sequences are dull and bad. The fight scenes felt like they are still rehearsing in a drama school stage. The motorcycle chase scene looked like a bad dirtbike commercial as they drive over desert landscape and hills. James Franco was a wasted talent. He is better than this. Not sure why he chose this project. Milla Jovovich tried to have fun playing a drug lord. But her performance was too much of her overdoing the crazy drug addict. Lucy Liu was in bed throughout and seemed bored. Suki Waterhouse beautiful as she is and trying to be a huge action star. Her talent was wasted in this film. And Jeffrey Wahlberg was dull playing a tedious character. The film is a mix up of other better apocalyptic films like Doomsday, Mad Max, and Blade Runner. Doomsday was still terrible but it is considered a masterpiece compare to Future World. Those films are way entertaining and better than this. Overall, Future World is a horrible film. Action and chase scenes are boring. The performances are tedious. And the concept and plot tried to be so much but was terribly scripted and directed.
