Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.

I have always been a helicopter fan, growing up i put models together, so i was excited when i heard about Fire Birds. One of the pilots that did the flying in this movie served in Vietnam and Desert Storm, so yes you are seeing a real army pilot fly real helicopters its not like the cgi crap in today's movies. Is it 100% accurate? no, is the dialogue mind blowing? no, there are some corny lines, but if you care about stuff like that then id suggest watching a documentary on PBS, but if you want a good solid action movie that entertains , then i say check it out. I give it 2 thumbs up.On a Technical note. I had this movie on VHS and DVD, for some reason the VHS copy had better sound, when i put the DVD in i would have to turn the volume way up but it still didn't sound as good as the VHS copy

what on earth is this movie!? good lord mankind, a little shame please!two stars for being a helicopter based film, a personal favorite, and one more for falling decidedly into mst3k worthy awfulness.one million stars deducted for having the budget and cast to make an awesome helicopter movie and making this.unbelievably corny dialogue delivered with cringeworthy timing? Check. ridiculous plot? Check. reasonably excellent helicopter stunts? Check. a scarfed out "soul - rock"? band butchering chain of fools while our heroes strut their groove thangs? Triple check.cop a chill.

i actually enjoyed this movie, which is basically Top Gun with Apache helicopters.i don't think it was a great movie, but it was entertaining.sure there's some bad dialogue and the movie is pretty low key for its kind.the romance angle comes off as silly and unnecessary.but the flying sequences were OK.at least they could have been worse, and i have seen worse.the movie doesn't exactly stretch the acting talents of Nicolas Gage,Tommy Lee Jones,Sean Young,or anyone involved, for that matter.the story is not original, either.yet, like i mentioned earlier,i was entertained, and that's something.for me,Fire Birds is a 6/10

One of the two all-time worst movies in the history of motion pictures. The other one (Mac & Me) is probably worse in it's own way, but it had a lower budget and no big stars, so it gets a pass. The Script: The dumbest, most hackneyed and trite bit of screen-writing I've ever witnessed. I kept asking myself through the picture, "Why can't these actors recognize that the lines they are speaking are complete and utter crap?"Technical Details: A squadron of Apache helicopters wiped out by one guy riding around in a small observation helicopter. Ridiculous. Sean Young operating the Mast Mounted Sight controls from the left seat, while flying her little observation helo, (normally flown from the right seat) single-pilot. Equally-ridiculous. Nick Cage and Tommy Lee Jones are walking along somewhere in South American, pondering an orange, when all of a sudden a series of explosions occur directly behind them. Instead of dropping to the ground for cover, they immediately turn and sprint DIRECTLY IN THE DIRECTION OF THE EXPLOSIONS. Astoundingly bad production decisions.Aside from all that, this is actually an entertaining evening rental. IF YOU WANT A REALLY GOOD COMEDY. Rent it, trust me, you'll laugh so hard you may need to go to the hospital for some sort of in-patient hernia treatment.Ask for an orange with your breakfast.
