CrawlerChunky In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
Mandeep Tyson The acting in this movie is really good.
Staci Frederick Blistering performances.
littleted I'm not going to explain the plot as most people reading this will have watched the trailer. I watch this movie everyone it's on its that good. You can't go wrong with a cast of this calibre, Denzel Washington, Paula Patton, Jim Caviezel, Val Kolmer. I don't usually bother with sci fi movies but this is a brilliant thriller from start to finish, fantastic visuals strong story and great acting a must see.
cinemajesty Movie Review: "Deja Vu" (2006)A massively-visualized opening sequence terror attack on a river ferry shot near New Orleans after Hurricane Katherina in August/September 2005 by cinematographer Paul Cameron in an intriguing image system orchestrated by paint-brush-striking director Tony Scott (1944-2012) alongside with close friend leading actor Denzel Washington, portraying solidly as special agent Doug Carlin of the U.S. bureau of alcohol, tobacco, firearms and explosives (ATF) investigating the ferry disaster under an "act-of-terror" initiative, when Bill Marsilii's original script, polished by "Pirates of the Caribbean" screenwriter Terry Rossio and picked up as shooting draft by producer Jerry Bruckheimer becomes utterly unspeakable with a secret-operative science team, including Val Kilmer in hiding places behind desks and metallic-framed glasses, is able to fold time in order to prevent the high-flaming action-standards-granted fire-fight on the revisiting exterior location of the ferry, occupied by U.S. immigrated nemesis-character of Carroll Oerstadt under two-compact-machine guns aiming, bomb igniting actor Jim Caviezel, when full-frontal close, up and personal character conflicts get sacrificed for science-fiction mischief of Agent Carlin finally getting send through a wormhole back-in-time to the ferry to safe the woman of his recurring dream named Claire, here with utmost dedication playing actress Paula Patton, sharing intimate as emotional beats of a sensual woman, whose scenes with Denzel Washington mark the highlight of an undercut "Deja Vu". © 2018 Felix Alexander Dausend (Cinemajesty Entertainments LLC)
mrshev There is a lot going for this movie. It is well made, well shot, well acted and well directed. As thrillers go I think that Mr Scott pretty much does a masterclass in thriller directing. Obviously, once you take a leap into the void that is temporal displacement / time travel mechanics then you are opening yourself up to a whole bunch of nightmare scripting sessions in which the writers must have leaned one way to make it work in a logical way but the producers must have been sighing all the time; 'boring! Too much exposition - we want action, dammit!' and leaned the other way. What we have ended up with is a film started by the writers and finished by the producers. It is entertaining but when the film ends you end up thinking: 'I dunno, that doesn't make any sense...' and unfortunately what started out as quite a clever idea gets crazier and crazier as the film progresses and by the end I was pretty sure that no one had any idea where - or indeed when - Denzel Washington was, least of all the writers. Overall, it's fun and for the first half an hour or so you are wondering where they are going with it and it becomes immediately apparent that it is going to be quite a bit of fun...but then goes a bit bonkers. Worth a watch though.
vincentlynch-moonoi I'm not a big fan of science fiction, but every once in a while a sci-film will come along that I do like (and this is one). The problem for me with most sci-fi is how far can the director push the viewer to suspend belief before the viewer says, "Wait a minute. This is getting absurd."? That is, perhaps, even more true when the sci-fi topic is time travel...which this sort of is. For me, this story did not push me past that point of being comfortable with suspending belief.I'm not going to outline the plot of the film here. Many others...and many other sources...do that. I want to concentrate on a few of the actors and their performances.Denzel Washington, as an ATF Special Agent, turns in a solid performance, as he almost always does. He helps hold the line on suspending belief.Paula Patton -- an actress I'm not very familiar with -- is excellent as the victim turned hero.Jim Caviezel turns in a wonderful performance as the terrorist.Val Kilmer -- looking quite rotund (but once one of my favorites) is rather bland as an FBI Special Agent.Adam Goldberg, another actor I'm not too familiar with, is superb as a scientist.I highly recommend this film...and I think you'll like the plot twist at the end!
