A team of space marines known as the Rapid Response Tactical Squad, led by Sarge, is sent to a science facility on Mars after somebody reports a security breach. There, they learn that the alert came after a test subject, a mass murderer purposefully injected with alien DNA, broke free and began killing people. Dr. Grimm, who is related to team member Reaper, informs them all that the chromosome can mutate humans into monsters -- and is highly infectious.

guust8919 Over the years this movie is holding up better and better to other movies from its generation. The Rock is really cool in one of his first lead roles and Carl Urban is good in almost every movie he appears. Only a few downthings to this movie and thats the somewhat thin plot and the really bad "first person scène". Overall give this movie a chance even if you've seen it some 10 years ago. You won't be dissapointed!
cinemajesty Movie Review: "Doom" (2005)After "Super Mario Bros." (1993) and "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" (2001) comes the third adaptation of an major video game phenomenon. "Doom", the movie based on first to be computer game for PC tower/desktops released in 1993, directed by professional cinematography and director of "Exit Wounds" (2001) Andrzej Bartkowiak gets a major motion picture enterprise of a 60 Million Dollar licensed and packed by producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura for an Universal Picture release due on October 21st 2005 just in time for an Halloween holiday at the movie houses.Nevertheless the on-time release did not help to make it a hit at the box office. Even so publicly known personnel has been engaged with professional wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, performing solidly in one of his first leading roles as Sarge, second by highly agile actress Rosamund Pike, giving face to mars scientist Samantha Grimm, plus side-kicking actor Karl Urban as her brother John Grimm. The production value comes along high standard, yet the only one-time 2 and 1/2 minute ego-shooter scene of hardcore encounters, mimicking the full-frontal action gameplay of the original, may want to convince the spectre that there might have been more spectacle at hand, if the screen writing duo Dave Callham & Wesley Strick only gave at least one of the character the chance to meet some space action outside the compound instead of keeping the cast locked up in tiresome tight lab locations and corridors."Doom" can be enjoyed as what is an inactive, undemanding, major turning-point-missing video game adaptation that makes me lean back, squeezing a little smile instead of grabbing the arms of the auditorium's chair in pure excitement or at least terrifying science-fiction terror.© 2017 Felix Alexander Dausend (Cinemajesty Entertainments LLC)
oscar-35 *Spoiler/plot- Doom, The Movie, 2005. A frantic call for help from a Martian remote research station sens a team of mercenary Marines into action. Their leaders descend to the Olduvai Govt station, where they find a legion of nightmarish creatures. Once there these Marines must use an arsenal to get out alive.*Special Stars- Karl Urban, Rosamund Pike, Dwayne Johnson, Dexter Fletcher.*Theme- Teamwork wins battles.*Trivia/location/goofs- Film promotes the popular self person POV shooter computer game.*Emotion- Sadly due to the overt way the camera frame shows & tells the plot, this film suffers from believably and therefore any horror. Kidda a shallow gimmicky film of little watch ability. A shame.*Based On- Base on the hugely popular video game.
rkoch1 This movie was actually exceptionally good in my opinion. For what it is supposed to be (action sci-fi horror) it hit every requirement on par.Amazing special effects and practical effects, great costume, great budget production (amazing scenery) and a decent plot which was well fleshed out with interesting characters. On top of the awesome practical effects, it had good camera angles during the action scenes which give you a good view of the creature which weren't OVERLY SHAKY and don't give you nausea like most modern movies.I think this movie gets a bad rap just because of a couple stupid decisions by the characters and characters which were frustrating or making stupid decisions. ALSO SOME POOR ACTING but only by part of the cast. I thought the woman Sam played a horrible role, she kept making the audience feel like she was secretly hiding something with that evil, blank, and cold look on her face. Plus, she wanted to take time to try to heal everybody or do autopsies in the middle of a massive gunfight/evacuation.Perhaps the reason why this movie got low ratings were the stupid decisions made by the characters (i.e. the main character's decision to FIGHT THE ROCK hand to hand instead of just shoot him with his bullets), or the overly-dramatic scene when the movie turns into a first-person shooter (I LOVED that part and thought it was done very well) even though this appeals highly to anybody who has ever played a first person shooter. This movie held true to gamer's hearts, including things such as the gravity gun (which is shown to us early on but doesn't become available until you unlock it later on in the game, just like in movie) and a bunch of other easter eggs for gamers. All in all, this movie deserves AT LEAST a 7/10 for its genre and artistic intent. If you watch this expecting for a challenging mystery filled with surprises and plot turns, don't come here as you will be disappointed and will rightly give the movie a 5/10 as it is currently rated. However, go here for the right things and you will not be let down!Highly underrated movie!
