Carl and David, two boys flying a small aircraft over the ocean with their father, crash land near an uncharted island. The boys swim safely to shore, but their father unfortunately drowns in the crash. On their own, the brothers explore the island and soon discover it is not only inhabited by people, but by dinosaurs as well! While the place seems easy enough to get used to, the boys must find a way of returning to their home.

Karry Best movie of this year hands down!
Fluentiama Perfect cast and a good story
Kaelan Mccaffrey Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
Hattie I didn’t really have many expectations going into the movie (good or bad), but I actually really enjoyed it. I really liked the characters and the banter between them.
Isaac Walker The Dinotopia miniseries (presented as four hour movie on DVD release) brings to life the whimsical, and presents some of the most beautifully realised fantasy seen on television even today. The special effects of this 2002 mini series stand the test of time today - slowly ageing, but they are by absolutely wonderful set design and costuming that keep them enjoyable. One must remember this is a made for TV series, and in the context of the badly done things Syfy churns out today and the age of Dinotopia, this series features amazing VFX for TV.Waterfall City is still one of the most beautiful fictional cities ever, and the costuming and VFX filled the world of Dinotopia with life. The society that is showed to the viewers eyes is simultaneously believable and awe-inspiring. This is what makes Dinotopia so enjoyable; the stunning society the plot takes place in.The plot of this series is far from revolutionary, the acting by the main character's actors is flawed and not perfect, but massively improves quite a bit after episode one. Zippo remains one of my favourite supporting characters, but the whole supporting cast was fabulous and really helped to build the wonderful world that is Dinotopia. As I understand it (having not read the books) this work does simplify Gurney's world, but it certainly achieves making a four hour marathon quite enjoyable. Further, Wentworth Miller had his earliest role in Dinotopia, and it is great to watch him as David Scott.Much of the criticism seems to stem from people not liking Dinotopia's government system (which even the series shows is flawed and I don't understand how that cripples your enjoyment of a fantasy work) and Zippo resembling Jar Jar Binks (but while sometimes serving as comic relief, Zippo has real heart and is an intellectual).
Alise_shenle only the zippy dinosaur is vaguely amusing and interesting (watch him play tennis!), but the rest is disgusting. Marion, who is as ugly as a dinosaur egg, is really unrealistic as the object of affection of 2 guys. she is also really old, and boring in character. the hot brother is just cute, but his reaction is more realistic. my dad just died, and now there's dinosaurs all around? give me a break. Wentworth miller is ugly as always, but he's really a jerk while training to fly. he thinks he's special, and wants to SAVE THE WORLD!!! boring, even Jurassic park is better than this dinosaur waste. so do not watch this uninspiring wannabe fantasy rip off of narnia.
dstaats_11 If i were to rate a all the Dinosaur movies, this would come near the top after the Jurassic Park series. This series stayed perfectly with the plots of the actual series. I don't think that i've ever seen a more realistic dinosaur movies. I also found myself relating to most of the characters in the movie. In conclusion, i found this movie awesome and i'd recommend anyone to see it, especially of you're a dinosaur nut like me.If anyone were to ask about how a dinosaur movie could possibly be realistic, then i'd just show tell them to just watch the movie, and then they'd see exactly what i meant. If you're up for a good read, or an excellent movie to watch see this movie 10/10
guyhome maybe it's the original book, but this is so stupid. They live in freaking Waterfall City, and they spend all their time looking for sun stones as a source of power. use the damn waterfalls! create electricity!!! The leading actors are also horrible, especially Wentworth Miller as David, he's acting like he's the director's con who got his first chance in front of a camera. Katie Carr is also laconic and amateur, and only Tyron Leitso does a fair job.The special effects are nice and the CGI character of Zipeau (or Zippo?) is quite lovable. The story is a predictable Disney-esquire adventure for kids, very kitsch, very American and very simplistic. But Dinotopia still keeps some level of interest. It's watchable, if you have 4 extra hours and you can sleep. It will get you to slumber-land, that's for sure.
