NekoHomey Purely Joyful Movie!
Micransix Crappy film
Chirphymium It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional
PiraBit if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.
Ganesh Salian (salianmoviereview) De Dana Dan directed by Priyadarshan is awful! This Comedy movie turns out to be a horror one.Seriously! You actually tend to cry not because of the jokes but because you have wasted your time and money on this movie. The only thing that made me smile in this movie was Johnny Lever. He simply is mind-blowing! Talking about the story, was there supposed to be a story? Screenplay is penned very bad.The music is below average Performances-Johnny Lever is the star of the show!Akshay Kumar is okay.Suniel Shetty is average,Katrina Kaif is fair.Sameera Reddy is bad. Asrani is plain.Chunky Pandey is decent.Paresh Rawal,Vikram Gokhale,Rajpal Yadav,Aditi Govitrikar,Shakti Kapoor,Neha Dhupia,Tinnu Anand,Manoj Joshi,Sharat Saxena and Archana Puran Singh ham.On the whole,De Dana Dan is a letdown.
namashi_1 Priyadarshan's multi-starrer comedy 'De Dana Dan' is a film that you'll remember, not today, but in years to come. Here's way: Zany entertainers like these never get it right at the ticket window or with the film pundits during it's release... But, over the years, it gains a cult following.'De Dana Dan' is non-stop non-sense with everything going-over-broad. Be it the length, the screaming, the complications, the confusion. 'De Dana Dan' is probably the best example for 'Escapist Cinema', a town where the word logic seems alien. Priyadarshan is a veteran, but his cinema {talking about his super-hits} have always been comedies... so whenever you tune in any hit-flick of this National-Award Winner please leave your brains safely at home.Coming to Performances: There are almost 25-26 characters in the film, in which each has a character to portray. Surprisingly, all excel in their respective parts. But the ones who stand out are: Paresh Rawal, Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, Archana Puran Singh, Neha Dhupia, Shakti Kapoor, Manoj Joshi, Rajpal Yadav & Vikram Gokhale.'De Dana Dan' is funny, but loud, lengthy & non-sense. Watch this, but don't forget to lock your brains at home.
DesiBaba He had a couple of decent flicks, Malamaal Weekly and Garam Masala were his best movies-- best for his typical situational/slap-stick comedy genre anyways.. This one is simply flat from the first 10 minutes onwards all the way to the end. It is utterly predictable, most of the comedians are completely under utilized. Particularly Paresh Rawal, he hardly had anything comedic other than a few lines here and there. I am not sure why some reviews say the movie is hard to follow, may be they watched bits and pieces, anybody over 10 should have no problem following whats going on, not only that, most can predict what will happen next. For a while you could count on Priyadarshan movies to be decent comedies, not any more.
sumanbarthakursmailbox They couldn't have come up with a more inappropriate title for the new Akshay Kumar starrer than De Dana Dan, a term usually used to signify something quick. The thing is, Priyadarshan's latest comedy is anything but quick. At two hours and 40 minutes, it's a laboriously long, patience-testing exercise in idiocy about some 20-odd characters stuck in a five-star hotel where mistaken identities and misunderstandings result in loud arguments, comic-book action and crude humor. Akshay Kumar plays down-on-his-luck servant boy Nitin Bankar, who can't take any more humiliation from his tyrant boss, and finally conspires with his buddy to kidnap her beloved pooch and demand a ransom. The dog, as it turns out, is smarter than the men. He escapes from their hands, but the police believe that Nitin has been kidnapped. Don't ask how this situation leads to the one in the hotel, but it does. There's a wedding happening, a murder attempted, a prostitute being solicited, and lots of money changing hands. Eventually, it ends with a bomb exploding in the water tank and a flood - think Titanic here – gutting the entire hotel. In the tradition of many recent low-brow comedies from the same director, De Dana Dan is cheerfully dumb and doesn't aspire for anything more than cheap laughs. The film's first half is dreadfully dull, and the second only marginally better. Rajpal Yadav as a corrupt waiter, and Johnny Lever as a bumbling hit-man are the two bright spots in this annoying ensemble that includes talented actors like Paresh Rawal, Vikram Gokhale and Archana Puran Singh who pretty much spend the entire film yelling at the top of their lungs. Neha Dhupia scores with a winning turn as the hot-headed hooker who just wants to get her money and leave. The film's leading man, Akshay Kumar, sportingly goes along with the silliness, but he's done all of this many times before. In the film's second half, he's locked up in a closet for about 40 minutes, leaving the rest of the cast to carry on the show. How you wish you could hide somewhere too, or slip into a coma even – anything really to avoid watching the rest of this drivel. Over the years one has lowered one's expectations considerably when going in to watch a Priyadarshan comedy.De Dana Dan is no different.
