Perry Kate Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
Greenes Please don't spend money on this.
Kidskycom It's funny watching the elements come together in this complicated scam. On one hand, the set-up isn't quite as complex as it seems, but there's an easy sense of fun in every exchange.
Fairaher The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
g-bodyl Nowadays, most animated films are films that are not all that suitable for young children either for frightening elements or a complicated plot. But now here is a G-rated film that is strictly for children, and I only mean children. I am not saying it's a bad film or anything, but I do not think adults will be able to handle this. Children will adore this film for sure. As a story, it does work pretty good. The animation leaves something to be desired and I feel like I'm watching a Saturday-morning cartoon. This film, based off books I grew up with in my childhood, is about a guy named the Man in the Yellow Hat who ventures to Africa to find a relic for his museum that will save it from doom. There he meets a little mischievous monkey who ends up becoming mates with the man. This film has some good voice talent here. It took me awhile to digest that Will Ferrell voices the Man because this is definitely not his typical fare. I think he does a good job here. Drew Barrymore is pretty good as the teacher of all the schoolchildren.Overall, Curious George is a harmless film for children. I don't think many adults will find substance to this film. This is a good film to watch at home, but not to see in the theaters. Personally, I enjoyed it but only to a degree. I admired it for what it is and how it does not try to be more. I rate this film 7/10.
SnoopyStyle The man with the yellow hat is named Ted Shackleford (Will Ferrell). He works at a natural history museum. Maggie Dunlop (Drew Barrymore) keeps bringing her school kids to the museum. The owner Mr. Bloomsberry (Dick Van Dyke) needs to sell the failing museum, and his son wants to turn it into a parking lot. Ted suggests rejuvenating the museum with an exhibit of the lost Shrine of Zagawa. Mr. Bloomsberry is too old, and Ted is forced to go. Only he brings back a couple of unexpected cargo. The best things about this movie is Curious George and the Jack Johnson's music. Somehow they fit together like hand and glove. It maintains the charm and simplicity of the books. This is a sweet little movie without all the gross out humor prevalent today. George is cute, and man with the yellow hat is a likable nice guy. This is a good movie for the little kids.
Brandt Sponseller I had been putting off watching Curious George for a while, but I'm not quite sure why. I love animation, I still love kids' entertainment in general, and I'm a huge Will Ferrell fan, but I think I had some fuzzy, distant memory that I didn't really care for the Curious George books (and maybe I had seen a couple of the early films when I was in high school) and I was vaguely aware of a negative buzz about this film. Well, putting it off was a mistake, because this is now easily one of my favorite films from 2006--everything about it is perfect, and I have to doubt my memory about previous Curious George works (I've already ordered one of the old books and films to check out). The first thing you notice is how gorgeous and unusual the animation is. It's highly stylized to create a complete fantasy world, and seamlessly combines high-tech and low-tech, cartoonish caricature and realistic computer-aided design. The plot, which is about Ted (Ferrell) venturing from a fantasy New York City to Africa to try to find a huge statue that would save the natural history museum he works for, may seem to be the weakest link, but that would come from misunderstanding the focus, which is instead on a number of abstract ideas and themes. The primary idea is relatively unusual but very welcome--a message about the extreme importance of curiosity, creativity and play. This is merged with a very positive Zen-like "go with the flow"/"live mindfully in the moment" theme, which is partially achieved via a stream-of-consciousness flow of various subplots that frequently, very enjoyably dip into silliness and absurdities. The main plot turns out to fit perfectly with this tone, as do the choices and performances of the voice actors, including Ferrell, Frank Welker, Eugene Levy, Dick Van Dyke, Drew Barrymore and David Cross. The Jack Johnson songs also set an unexpected but perfect mood for the film.
john_skiny_boy Don't know where to start because this movie is not a blockbuster but is enjoyable to watch , not boring , there is always something new to story and it has a very nice story , very good voice acting , good music and I can go on like that for at least 2 hours , but if you want a good 2D animation made by artists ( because my opinion about them is a very good one , they are by me true artists ) .You all should go to see this one if you want to have some quality time with your children , alone and with friends and/or family . My vote 9/10 .P . S . : if my English is bad and if I've made some mistakes in my writing please apologize me . I learned it from TV .
