GazerRise Fantastic!
Kaydan Christian A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
Francene Odetta It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.
tavm Having just seen Bosko and Bruno (with the monkey-looking version of the character) and now Bosko's Easter Eggs (with the more realistic-looking black boy character), I noticed a couple of contrasts: besides the designs, the big difference between monkey-Bosko and real black boy-Bosko is that monkey-Bosko is actually an adult while black boy one is, well, a kid. Also, in Bosko and Bruno, Bruno chases chickens while here, the dog is scared of her because he helped Bosko steal her eggs. The reason this is is because Bruno sorta ruined the ones Bosko was originally carrying in his basket. And the one who automatically figures it out without being told is Honey, here also different from her previous characterization as an adult to that of a little girl. Not much for laughs but entertaining nonetheless with Bosko's rhymes and the way the chicken constantly chases them. Well worth seeing for anyone interested in MGM cartoons made before Tom and Jerry and Tex Avery catapulted them to everlasting fame.
stevenfallonnyc Out of all the Bosko cartoons, this one is definitely one of my favorites (from those I have seen, anyway). Bosko accidentally busts his easter eggs, so he attempts to scam the chicken out of her eggs, which he actually does, but then the chicken gets her revenge! Bosko was way ahead of his time evidently, as he is constantly making rhymes as he strolls along (with his pooch Bruno, and the girl who is his sister or girlfriend or something). One of my favorite lines he sings (raps?) is, "The Easter time is the time for eggs, and the time for eggs is the Easter time!" As always, Bosko makes seemingly simple situations very complicated and he gets himself into some crazy antics. Meanwhile he's always saying things like "Hello Miss Chicken, you sho' look scrumptious today!" For those not in the know, Bosko is a young black child with a very vivid imagination, often finding himself in wild adventures. These old Bosko 'toons are always a blast, and full of amazing animation which blows away today's bloated computer/CGI garbage.
