Nonureva Really Surprised!
ThedevilChoose When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.
Robert Joyner The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
Allison Davies The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
cricketbat Sure, it's not as good as Excellent Adventure, but this sequel is still highly entertaining. Plus, the film's take on death and the afterlife is as interesting and original as it is hilarious. Station!!
Fluke_Skywalker Plot; The future utopia inspired by the music of two contemporary teens is threatened when a contrarian from that future sends back a pair of robotic doppelgangers to kill the real Bill and Ted.I revisited the original Bill & Ted film a few months ago and was surprised by how well it held up. Oh it's dated from a pop culture sense (though charmingly so), but strictly as a piece of entertainment it endures. Breezy, charming and at times deceptively clever, it is what too few contemporary films are. Fun.I hadn't revisited the sequel since the turn of the millennium and remembered it being more Bogus than Excellent, but it was included as part of a two-pack w/the original, so I hopped in the phone booth and dialed 1991. At the time we were poised on the pop culture precipice of the Grunge era, and indeed by the time this movie hit home video, Nirvana had taken a flannel covered elbow and knocked aside the big haired, leather clad zeitgeist that informed the Bill & Ted series. That's more important from the standpoint of pop culture archeology than the quality of the film itself, but if you look closely, you can see how worn and threadbare the day-glo spandex is here. There are inspired moments, such as the film's best ongoing gag, a comedic spin on Ingmar Berman's Death from The Seventh Seal (played here by a, uh, game William Sadler), w/Battleship and Clue substituted for Chess. But the bulk of the film feels bogged down by the often surreal tone and it lacks the fun spirit and triumphant ending of the original.
Davis P Bill and Teds Bogus Journey is a disappointment on many levels. This is of course a sequel to Bill and Teds excellent adventure, released in 1989. This sequel is just very weak throughout. The stars are Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter, and William Sadler. Reeves and Winter are the same brain numbingly dumb teenage surfer dudes that get involved in a crazy adventure. I will say that Reeves and Winter at least play their parts how they're supposed to be played. The movie tries hard to be humorous, but it doesn't succeed at all. If I'm being honest, the only thing I ever laughed at during this entire film was how poorly made it was. The movie has a very clichéd formula, not too impressive acting, bad attempts at humor, and not that exciting action. Also something that got under my skin was the use of f*g in the film, so not only is this movie a poorly made one, but it's also offensive and not inclusive. The only reason I'm giving this film a 2 instead of a 1 is because of some of the visuals that were kinda well done. 2/10 for Bill and Teds Bogus Journey.
Leofwine_draca I'm not really a fan of slacker movies and I absolutely despise the two WAYNE'S WORLD movies that came later, but something about the two BILL & TED movies is inherently likable. It may be the dumb characters, so relentlessly dumb but chirpy with it that they're impossible to dislike. Or it may be the fact that the humour, although dumb, is never mean-spirited or unpleasant; there's something delightfully old-fashioned about it which harks back to the slapstick comedy of years gone by.BOGUS JOURNEY is a slightly inferior film when compared to EXCELLENT ADVENTURE, which was fresher and more funny with all of the historical figures. The central joke about the dumbness of the characters is beginning to wear a bit thin, although Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves certainly do their best and bring plenty of energy to the material. At some points BOGUS JOURNEY feels like a near plot less adventure, taking the characters through various points in the afterlife. The varied special effects are dated but fun, and the set design is excellent. I love wacky stuff so a lot of this film appealed. The best thing in the film is William Sadler, playing the Grim Reaper in a delightful homage to THE SEVENTH SEAL. Sadler, one of cinema's most underrated stars, is excellent when given the chance to do something other than play the stock villain in an action movie - although he's very good at doing that too, as anyone who has seen DIE HARD 2 will be sure to admit. I loved him to bits here and his deadpan, naive humour is great stuff. The challenge scene is a highlight, inevitably, but Sadler remains strong throughout. The music-infused climax is well-handled too, and those homemade robot clones are brilliantly designed.
